Replays Saturday 10pm - midnight, Monday 1pm - 3pm.

This show highlights live musical performances ranging widely from early 60's rock to rock-a-billy, and from blues to bluegrass. Live Tracks  frequently features performances from local musicians recorded and mixed by the show's host, Jim Buchanan.  

About the DJ

Jim Buchanan has been recording live music for the past decade (eight yrs. in New Mexico and two yrs. locally in Davis). He loves the energy of live music, and enjoys the challenge/unpredictability  of "capturing" the essence of a unique performance.  Jim often spends his weekends recording local community music events to add to his "archive" for his KDRT Live Tracks show. About the local music

Jim had a blast at the KDRT official Launch Party in September 2004, where he recorded  the musical performances and ran the sound board for KDRT's "maiden broadcast". In the Spring and Fall of 2005 & 2006, Jim was very busy recording at E Street Plaza on Friday nights. The Davis Downtown Business Association (DDBA) hosts a free concert series twice a year, that typically runs for six weeks, and features a diverse variety of music .  Jim had the chance to record some of the  ol' Davis favorites like The Essentials,  Barry "The Fish"  Melton,  !Akimbo,  and Mejor Que Nada,  as well as relatively recent additions to the Davis music scene,  like Hardwater, UrbanFire and Davis Joint Unified.  These live concerts were then "lovingly" mixed and engineered by Jim, for later play on his weekly  Live Tracks show. 

Another "labor of love" has involved the production of KDRT's first CD, Live from E Street Plaza, that features 14 tracks from the Bill Scholer Blues Band concert,  recorded  in June 2005 during the DDBA's Friday Night Music Series, and later engineered for CD production by Jim.  Bill Scholer and band, have been generous suppporters of KDRT by repeatedly donating their musical skills to our events and fund-raising efforts. To read more about this great local band and other local favorites, check the Live Tracks Local Spotlight  link.
