COVID testing centers plagued by long lines amid anniversary of insurrection

Increasing demand for COVID testing drew long lines last week. But the story of the delays is really a story about worker burnout. Plus, a rememberance of the January 6th insurrection one year on and a call for voting rights legislation. Packages by Max Davis-Housefield and Genna Olavarri.

New year, new variant?

Amid a pandemic (again) individuals from the community shared their methods of holiday celebration this year. The New Year inevitably produced new hopes and new worries for everyone and we talked to a few people about their feelings going into 2022. Next, high school seniors share what they will miss most about their high school experience as it comes to an end. Finally, a brief update on the omicron variant in Yolo County. A Christmas Carol Part Two

The classic winter tale of a haunted miser concludes in part two of A Christmas Carol. Will Scrooge change his ways after a visit from the ghosts of Christmases Present and Yet to Come?

The story was adapted and directed by Max Davis-Housefield. Scrooge was played by Max Davis-Housefield, Bob Cratchit was played by Elliot DeJong, Marley and Mr. Fezziwig were played by Daniel Jebri, The Ghost of Christmas Past, Skye Adams, the Ghost of Christmas Present, Lewis Herring-Tillman, the caroler, Kelly Wilkerson, the neighbor, Leyla Bolkan, Belle, Bridget Nagle, Mrs. Cratchit, Stella Maze, Tiny Tim, Declan Fee, Mourner, Jihan Moon, and the boy was played by Mattias Rowenbale.

A Christmas Carol Part One

Marley was dead to begin with. The HUB presents an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Starring reporters and editors as Victorian Londoners and some ghastly ghosts, this holiday offering is sure to make you smile. The story will conclude in part two next week.

Holiday sleep, stress and safety

The winter time can cause a lot of stress in community members for different reasons. Sleep, or lack-there-of can contribute to these feelings. Next, opinions vary surrounding the decision to buy a real tree for Christmas versus an artificial one. Infectious Omicron variant spreads concern

A new variant of SARS-COV 2 with an increased number of mutations was detected in South Africa on November 24. We speak with Dr. David Kimberlin, a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Co-Director of their Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases about the new variant. Dr. Kimberlin also is one of two liaisons from the American Academy of Pediatrics to the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, where COVID vaccine recommendations are crafted.

Davis turkeys celebrate Thanksgiving

Davis's turkey population is a perpetual annoyance for some but today we investigate the reason for the ubiquitous flocks. Also, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the Davis Community has a variety of plans and views on the holiday. Finally, a look into this year's pardoned turkeys, Peanut Butter and Jelly. Mondavi Center reopens while seniors apply for college

High school fall sports seasons are coming to a close and student athletes are moving forward. Next, some high school students have been altering COVID test results in order to fake negative statuses. Meanwhile, as COVID restrictions loosen, the Mondavi Center is reopening to the public.
