Here's a view of Davis you rarely see -- the way the town looks from the rear of a train headed north from the Davis train station to the edge of town.
"Davisville" host Bill Buchanan shot this video from the rear of a special California Northern passenger train in March 2010. The railroad operated the one-car train for local officials and other guests to highlight the arrival of California Northern's new, environmentally advanced engines. (When the engines are off duty, they're often parked on the tracks near the Davis Food Co-op on G Street.)
The northern line hasn't hosted a regular passenger train in more than 25 years.
Buchanan interviewed California Northern General Manager Don Seil about the railroad for the April 5th "Davisville." The accompanying video however, was just finally brought to light. Enjoy!
