Black History Month Celebration in Capay Valley with Clarence Van Hook

Children's International Storytelling Program at International House

Join the next Children's International Storytelling Program at International House by welcoming back Vicki Crescitelli on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. She will be performing "Tales From Around the World." Davis Live Music Collective presents Jolie Holland and Sea Of Bees in Concert

Davis, CA, February 1, 2012 – The Davis Live Music Collective is proud to
present one of the nation's most important young songwriters Jolie Holland
along with supporting artist Sea of Bees. This is the music collective’s
inaugural event and will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Davis, Tuesday,
February 21st.

Jolie Holland is an esteemed Shortlist Prize nominated musician who counts
Tom Waits and ANTI- label mate Sage Francis among her most outspoken fans.
She has shared some of the nation’s biggest stages with artists like The
Jayhawks, Mavis Staples, She & Him, Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio), David Gray
and Chris Isaak. Holland is a unique and important voice in music who blends
blues, folk, gospel, jazz and seventies-era rock into truly beautiful and
unique songs unmistakably her own.

Recently gaining national praise on NPR’s All Songs Considered as a Top 10
pick, Sea of Bees has been releasing albums on Davis, California’s locally

Local all-stars The Honeybadgers play Thursday Live!

Watermelon Music’s home grown band, The Honeybadgers, will headline the March 1st Thursday Live!
Opening up the evening will be The Twanglers.
The shows start at 7:30 p.m. at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall located at 415 Second Street. This show will be in the newly remodeled upstairs hall which is well suited for dancing. All shows are free and open to all ages.

Thursday Live! is a continuing series of concerts held the first Thursday of every month at the Davis Odd Fellow Hall.

The Honeybadgers are a group of musicians who are all associated with Watermelon Music. They play a mix of Blues based music, including Rhythm & Blues.

The band members are:
Jeff Simons - Bass, Vocals and owner Watermelon Music and has played with Anton Barbeau, Bill Scholer, !Akimbo, Linda Book and various bands over the past 2 decades. Jeff is originallyfrom Merced in the Central Valley.

Ron Cowden - Guitar, Vocals and owner of Watermelon Music, is tall, grew up in Davis, and has played in various bands locally since the late 1970's. A few of these bands are; Roommates, Weird Harold, Bill Scholer and Biscuits 'n Honey
